I put some photos from
Cavtat here, but I'll add some more
really soon!

Dear colleagues,
The XII European Congress of Ichthyology
was held in Cavtat, Croatia, from 9-13 September and we are very
proud to note that it was the largest ECI to date. More than 400
participants from 52 countries worldwide decided to come to
Cavtat and be a part of the ECI XII. Almost 500 presentations,
covering a wide spectrum of topics from all aspects of
ichthyology; from fish evolution, explanations of phylogenetic
relationships and taxonomic positions of many species, and
descriptions of anatomical, morphological and physiological
characteristics of certain fish species, to ecological
population studies and studies and plans from conservation
biology and protection of endangered species, were presented in
Cavtat.
The ECI XII
fully fulfilled the aims of the existence and perpetuation of
the ECI: the provision of a forum for the exchange of knowledge
and newest findings in various fields of ichthyology. While many
questions regarding fish biology were answered in Cavtat, the
research presented there also posed new questions and set the
course for future research. In addition to many great contacts,
collaborations conceived or strengthened in Cavtat and many new
ideas for further research, we sincerely hope that you also took
some lovely memories of Croatia home with you.
Sincerely yours,
Organizing Committee
